10 letter e's influenced by the word 'POP'

*

These are my final 10 letters which visually communicate the word 'POP', I prefer the letters that try and communicate a sound, feeling/ a non physical interpretation of the word 'pop' rather than the popcorn 'E' or the pin popping a bubbly 'e', these examples look a bit confusing and would be interpreted as 'popcorn' or 'balloon/ bubble' rather than 'pop' to someone who was unfamiliar to the brief.

Ideas for letters

This is my initial page of ideas.
I used definitions of the word 'pop' to base some ideas on:

  • Make a sudden, sharp, explosive sound
  • Cause (something) to burst, making such a sound
  • Burst open in such a way

I thought that these definitions were most applicable to typography whereas definitions such as: pop music and 'to shoot' will put priority on the image rather than the letterform.

Letter Development

These are some preliminary sketches for a letter based around 'to pop up, appear quickly'. I decided to make it look like the letter was growing taller across the page.
